wee wee wee all the way home

My colleagues were nice enough to pick me up Sunday and take me sightseeing around Manila. We spent a few hours in Chinatown…the oldest one in the world. I enjoyed a great meal of pork dumplings, chicken mami and fried rice. It was raining pretty hard when we left the restaurant, so we didn’t get to explore many of the side streets. I also didn’t get to shoot many pictures, other than a couple snaps on my iPhone.

I saw some pretty interesting things, including roosters wandering the streets, a Chinese valet parking operation and some wild street foods. I have to say, the most interesting sight in Chinatown was a Chinese midget. With his dick out. Peeing on a car.

Manila is pretty cool.

  1. I feel like this is the perfect time to tell you I’m seriously afraid of midgets and ever since the scene in Hangover 2 am equally leery of a chinaman’s weenis. I’m glad we could share this moment.

PS- glad you’re having safe travels and a little bit of fun.

  2. I can’t wait to hear about all the interesting food you are exposed to. I will have to ask Joe if he has heard of/tasted some of the things you find.

  3. I never want to see a midgedick. Ever.

Next time you’re in LA, I’m taking you to Street in Hollywood. It’s a restaurant of all different street foods from around the world. It’s awesome. You’ll love it. They might even have chicken mami.

  4. But is the food good?! That’s all I want to know!

    • Hmmm. Well, so far it’s good. There were beaks in my soup, but I just ignored them…the meat and the broth were delicious. I had some lumpia last night, which was very good. It was the fresh version as opposed to fired. They seem to fry everything here, which gets a little old. Pork and chicken Adobo flakes are very good with garlic rice. I’m sure someone who likes seafood would do much better here than I, but I’m managing to find a lot of things I like! I’ll be posting about food at some point, I’m sure.

  5. I was having a miserable day and was recounting all of the positive things in my life for a bit of a pick-me-up and you crossed my mind. Okay maybe it was the thought of a cold beer that prompted thoughts of you (lol), but regardless you were thought of today. I read quite a few entries I needed to catch up on here and suffice it to say, even though I still feel cruddy, I have a smile on my face. Miss you.

  6. Glad you enjoyed the outing in Binondo, Hunter. The next time you drop by here, we ought to try taking you to the other provinces (within driving distance of Manila and/or a short plane ride away).

    Pee-S – We really can’t explain the midget answering Nature’s call… LOL
